I woke up this morning, turned the TV on as usual. It was on Discovery Channel from the night before, the program on was about minimally invasive surgery for lung cancer - IRONIC - as we learned yesterday that my Grandpa has cancer; in his lung, sternum, and his hip. We don't exactly know a lot yet, as he meets with the oncologist on March 15th.
The man who was being treated in the program, was about my Grandpa's age, and had a very similar personality, saying little jokes to the nurses, etc. As the doctor was saying to the man you can go home maybe the day after tomorrow, the man said "Oh please let's not rush it, she'll put me to work" (meaning the wife) it was just funny, because I can totally picture my grandpa saying that.
So this news is sad to our entire family, and a little difficult to process the big picture, at least for me. But the bonus is that we are a strong family, and Grandpa is strong willed, and has a wonderful attitude about this. He is ready to tackle this cancer with all he has.
So here we go on this journey... I pray that my Grandpa finds excellent doctors, the battle goes well, and we get a full recovery and healthy Grandpa - love this man!
